Not a vast amount of golfing experience, although a frequent visitor to Portugal for family holidays. Always keen to slip away from the beach for sneak looks at the golf courses especially Quinta do Lago where we were staying and Vale de Lobo where I first took to the fairways. Additionally, I have previewed the hotel and course of Le Meridien Penina in the company of my brother-in –law, who was an acquaintance of the great Henry Cotton, and was mightily impressed with the whole golf complex. To have the opportunity to take up the prize and stay and play at this magnificent location is most exciting. The Algarve is just a fantastic place for golf with a reliable climate, beautiful scenery and wonderfully designed courses. The various challenges of the Vilamoura complex await as the next destination on the Portuguese hit last later this month.

I have been visiting the Algarve for 15 years now and the improvement in availability and quality of golf is incredible. From the more mature courses such as Penina and the Old Course, Vilamoura to the more recent gems of Quinta do Vale and Monte Rei, all courses offer something for all standards of golfers. They are all maintained to such a fantastic standard as well. It is for this reason that my friends and I now have our annual tournament in the Algarve in June and have done for the last 4 years. Long may it continue!

This was our first golfing trip to the Algarve, but it will certainly will not be our last. The courses were excellent with a variety of challengers on each course. Booking the golf on line was easy and hassle free and it was just as straight forward when we reached the courses when we received a very friendly welcome. We would recommend AGC to any of our friends when golfing in Portugal and look forward to returning as often as possible.

I have been going to Portugal through AGC for many years now. The weathers perfect, and the courses are excellent, and are a true test of golf for both low and high handicappers alike. Initially went to the Vilamoura area, but now go to the eastern Algarve where courses are quieter and in great condition. Quinta da Ria and Cima are great and if you can afford to splash the cash Monte Rei is a must.

I have been going to Portugal on a golfing week for at least the last six years, usually in late winter or early spring. After discovering Tavira one summer over 15 years ago. We have not been disappointed with the golf courses near Tavira - quite the contrary. Our favourites are the Quinta da Ria (with breath-taking glimpses of the sea) and Quinta da Cima but we also appreciate Castro Marim, Benamor and even Quinta do Vale although we find it very challenging due to all the water hazards. It is also very exposed to the wind which, moreover, always seem to be unusually powerful for some strange reason. The conditions of the courses, especially Ria and Cima, are excellent and it is a real pleasure to play on them.

A final note on the hospitality of the Algarve people : exceptionally warm! Everyone speaks at least English and very often French and Spanish as well and they are cheerful, hard working and out to please. The food is truly excellent, especially the seafood. Our favourite dish is "arroz de marisco", but the fish in general is abundant, always very fresh and well prepared.

At the moment I am not a member of a golf club at the moment. To get my game going, I like to play as many different courses as possible in Holland and abroad. When we are visiting our house in the Algarve, I always like to play Silves, Castro Marim and Pine Cliffs, and love the challenges that Quinta do Vale offers.

AGC has made it easily possible for me to book these courses up-front for good prices and sometimes even including special offers! Until now I have always received a quick response and great service. This is a perfect way for me to plan our holidays and making sure we can always play our favourite courses!

This was my first golfing trip to the Algarve. Benamor at Tavira is a lovely mature course which was very enjoyable. Castro Marim near the Spanish border is more challenging with three 9 hole courses and a multiplicity of water hazards on one course which gives added fun.

I'm chuffed to bits to be this months winner! This is my first golfing experience in Portugal and indeed my first time in Portugal and I'm very excited. There are 5 of us travelling. We are really looking forward to the fantastic golf courses, the warm sunshine and a nice relaxing time. Having golfed a few times in Spain, I can't wait to enjoy my first trip to Portugal.

I enjoyed my golf in the Algarve immensely. The weather was beautiful and the course in excellent condition. What made it even better was that we played without having to wait for anyone in front of us or with anyone close behind us for the whole round - perfect!

I have visited the Algarve many times over the years, not only to play golf but also to enjoy the excellent facilities for families. A group of friends and I used to go on an annual golfing long weekend to La Manga in Spain but I suggested that we switch our allegiance to Vilamoura last year. Based on this favourable experience, we immediately booked a return trip this year to the same resort where we can play three rounds at three different courses whilst being in familiar surroundings. On this basis, given the number of high quality courses within easy reach we can (with Algarve Golf’s help of course…) continue coming back for many years and still get a fresh experience every time! What I particularly like about the majority of the courses on the Algarve is the people that work there and the warmth of the welcome.

I have played Quinta Do Lago, Vale Do Lobo, The Old Course Vilamoura, Gramacho Golf, Morgado Golfe, Alto Golf, Penina Golf, Palmares Golf, Boavista Golf, and Parque do Floresta. In my opinion Palmares is the most enjoyable golf course followed by Quinta Do Lago and then Morgado Golf. I have played golf in the Algarve since 1970 and since 1990 had the use of a villa in Lagos. I look forward to many more golfing holidays with friends in The Algarve.

It has been a good week as I had a hole in 1 on the 12th at Salgados last Friday! My first in Portugal. The Algarve is in my opinion the golfing capital of Europe producing some great Golf courses in a fantastic climate. Until you have golfed in the Algarve in the winter then you haven't really golfed at all.

My golfing experience in Portugal to date has been excellent. I have been to Portugal five times in the last three, the reason for this being I can not find anywhere as good as Portugal for a golfing holiday. The weather is very good, the people are friendly, the food is fantastic and the golf courses are always in great condition. I would highly recommend Portugal for a golfing holiday.

My first rounds of golf in Portugal were on a then very dry, hot Estoril Course in the summers of 1962 and 1965 – it had no fairway irrigation then! Lots of run, but difficult to hold the fairways. In '62, I also visited the Algarve – well before its 1st course Penina opened (1966), although I played there in 1970, as well as at the only Vilamoura course then – now the Oceânico Old Course.
In '72, I was part of a Luanda (Angola) G.C. team that played in the Portuguese inter-club championship on the 9-hole Miramar links, near Oporto. Although used to playing on 'browns' - instead of greens - in Angola, we were not last (only 2nd last!), after having a practice round at the historical Oporto course.
Over the last 18 years I've been fortunate to play most of Portugal's fine courses including those in Madeira and the Azores Islands. My one and only hole-in-one so far, in over 60 years of trying, was on the 8th at Palmares, near Lagos.

We are a group of up to 20 who have been playing golf in the Algarve for the past 4 years. 16 of us will travel again in October this year, and by then will have played 14 different Algarve courses. All of the courses played so far we would rate highly, particularly Q. do Lago South. Looking forward to playing Penina for the first time this year. At present we feel that the cost of golf is fair, but our hope would be that is does not get too expensive - your discount vouchers make it more reasonable. Alvor is a fabulous town to base yourself, and most courses are within a 40 minute drive of there. Looking forward to the usual perfect golfing weather in October.

I have been in Algarve at least 12 times and I always stay in a small village named Monte Judeu close to Portimao where I rent a villa. I and my wife and several of our friends love to go to Algarve to play golf and have a nice holiday. We like your golfcourses very much because they are always in good shape and the people who works there are very kind and service minded. We have booked a trip to Algarve this year to and it will not be the last one. Thank you very much and I look forward to be a happy winner in your “Grand draw”.

I am one of a group of golfers who take some days out each year at the end of March to enjoy the sunshine and also some of the wonderful golf courses in Portugal. Next year there are 16 of us returning to the Algarve for the third time. We are staying again in Tavira and have decided to play Vila Sol, Quinta do Lago North, Benamor und Quinta de Cima and booked these through AGC. The last time – 2005 - we were in the area we also stayed in Tavira and played Quinta da Ria, Benamor, Quinta de Cima, and Castro Marim. We were taken by the quality – especially by Quinta da Ria and Quinta de Cima - of the golf courses! We are looking forward to have again some beautiful days with fine golf courses in the Algarve.

I came to the Algarve on a Girls Golfing trip for a week last April, booking our Golf through AGC, which is now turning into an annual event as we enjoyed it so much. Last year we played The Old Course, Pinhal, The Ocean, and Palmares and next year we have already booked to play Quinta do Lago South, Boavista, Gramacho and Vila Sol. We stayed at Balaia Golf Village where I have an apartment and played on their Par 3 course which really helps with practising your short game and putting in preparation for playing the bigger courses. I have also been to the Algarve with my family and played Penina and Salgados. There are just so many good courses to choose from. We can't wait for next April - it's really great to play in the sunshine on the Algarve having left the cold, the wind and the rain behind in the UK. And everyone is so friendly too!

Having played golf in a number of different countries I was very impressed by the variety and quality of golf that was on offer in Portugal. Having booked for 5 people last year, through AGC, as part of an annual trip with friends, this year we have come back with even more, as everyone was so impressed. We played Castro Marim, Quinta de Ria, Quinta de Cima and Benamor. For the money that you pay in the UK, the same money in Portugal gives you the option of playing some very seriously good courses! Greens are lightening quick and the fairways are like bowling greens. I would highly recommend golf in Portugal to anyone, furthermore I was impressed by the efficiency and service offered by AGC, who I would recommend highly as well.

I am one of a group of golfers who take a week out each year at the end of May to enjoy the sunshine and also some of the wonderful golf courses in Spain and Portugal. This year there are 13 of us returning to the Algarve for the second time. We are staying in Albufeira and have decided just to play the Vilamoura courses having booked through AGC. The last time we were in the area we also stayed in Albufeira and played Palmares, Vila Sol, Pinta, Pinhal (twice) and Vilamoura Old. We were taken by the quality of the golf courses and, in particular, the all round friendliness of the people wherever we went. It goes without saying that we are all looking forward to another fine week's golf in the Algarve.

The lads and me were back in the Algarve for our second golfing tour. This time we played Parque da Floresta, Pinta, Boavista and Salgados. Having played Floresta previously it again did not let us down, with such a variety of holes to test your golf in different ways. My personal favourite was Pinta (mainly because I won the round that day), being a challenging and quite a scenic course.

Boavista was fun and is certainly a good course for those of you (like me that don't hit the ball too far), the par 5's were down hill! But then again the par 3 fifth is a good wood over the ravine. Salgados is an excellent course, but is a nightmare if you are wayward with any of your shots, normally ending up in the water. Overall again a good tour and now in the process of planning this years trip.

We discovered the Algarve in 1987. Overwhelmed by its beauty we soon decided to buy a vacation home there and changed our sport from tennis to Golf and play any course in the Algarve. Only San Lorenzo is missing from my list and I may use the voucher to play there. The big advantage in the Algarve is the wide variety of courses. From the always windy technical Parque da Floresta, over the nature reserve of Morgado, or up to the beautiful courses in Quinta do Lago - the variety is unique. I actually prefer the time early in December for a ten day golf tour with friends. Is there anything better in life as to play in pure sunshine, on December 10 with an outside temperature of 18 degrees and the outlook at the ninetieth hole to a "caneca" of Sagres and a "medronho". Is there anything better .... tell me!

Staying near Vale do Lobo for the fifth time and having played and enjoyed the local courses, we tried the ones made more accessible by the completion of the autoroute. Algarvegolf offered a large selection, even Parque de Floresta to the west and Quinta Ria to the east were reached within an hour's gentle drive. Our discount vouchers ordered by email and the booked tee times were all accepted and expected. The standard of the courses just gets better and better and we will be back next year!

After visiting Portugal (Penina) for the first time in November 2003 myself and friends cannot wait to return in 2004. This year we plan to play other courses to broaden our experience. The excellent weather for the time of year, fantastic courses and welcoming people make it the ideal place for golf.

My golfing experience in the Algarve to date has been most enjoyable.
Last year 5 friends and myself played Parque da Floresta, Penina Championship, Salgados and Alto, all of which were excellent courses. I couldn’t believe how green and well maintained they were. My favourite hole must have been the signature par 3 at Floresta which I birdied!

June 2004 - Peter Wijkstra

We started our trip on the course of Boavista which is a nice course, however, not easy to play due to its undulated greens. The second day we played the Old Course in Villamoura. The "traditional atmosphere" together with a wonderfull course makes it a pleasure to play. The 3nd day we played in Gramacho. The last day we played the Royal course in Vale de Lobo. A course which is very attractive to play due to its design and location near to the sea. In summary, it was fun playing in the Algarve.
