Algarve News
July and August are unusual golfing months in the Algarve, given the
higher temperatures, the courses are uncrownded except for occasional
friendly tournaments which are mostly for some charity.
As mentioned last month, the 'soft' opening of the magnificent Jack Nicklaus
layout at Monte Rei, near Vila Nova de Cacela has taken place. Having
personally been at the site during one of Nicklaus's original visits in
July, 1990, I was anxious to drive over and see the final masterpiece for
myself as reports and photos published are really impressive.
A special 'twilight' green-fee, including a shared buggy and complimentary
use of the practice facilities, are on offer until the end of this August.
